Software development
I develop software that makes a concrete business process simpler, faster or easier to manage. Technology is not an end in itself, but the means to solve a demonstrable problem.
Software built around the real process
Many software projects fail because the solution is designed around features rather than everyday practice. I therefore start with the people who need to use it, the exceptions in the process and the information required to make good decisions.
This results in software that connects to existing workflows and integrations while creating room to improve inefficient steps.
Reusable architecture
For new products, I use standard building blocks for user management, data, logging, installation, testing and distribution wherever possible. This creates a stable foundation more quickly and leaves more time for the functionality that makes the product unique.
Depending on the project, I work with web technology, React, Node.js, Python, Electron, API integrations, Docker and local or external routing and data services.
From prototype to maintainable product
A prototype should not end as a disposable demo. From the start, I account for maintenance, extensibility, error handling, data quality and the way the organisation will actually use the software.
